Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR)

Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR)

Starting from January 2011, a new educational system has been introduced and implemented throughout all the primary schools in Malaysia. It is a school-based system that started from Year One pupils this year. It is known as Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR).

Teachers had been briefed on how to teach using the new system. KSSR is a very new and revolutionize the way we used to teach. Even the format of writing daily lesson plan has gone huge makeover. No more yearly scheme of work, it has been replaced by weekly lesson plan. Teachers have to plan week by week compared to yearly as before.

Year One Lesson Plan (KSSR)

For English subject, I will give an example of how it looks like. It comprises of two component.
  1. Weekly plan.
  2. Daily plan.
Weekly Lesson Plan

This is an example of my weekly lesson plan
As you can see, a topic is separated into 4 sections, listening and speaking, reading, writing and language arts, day by day from Day 1 to Day 4. What? A week has 5 school days. Why only 4 days? You may ask. Well, day 5 is up for the teacher to decide. We can do whatever we like within the topic. This new format will free the teacher from the time constraints as the old format always do.
